Summer Days

What does one do with the lazy days of summer?

Go blueberry picking.
Attend an old-fashioned penny fair at the Royal BC Museum.
Have a picnic at a concert in the park.
Give your bike a new paint job then take it for a spin.
Or just chill out at home.
In all this fun, there is one person around here that suddenly wants to be taken VERY seriously.
At just 18 months, Uliana has decided that she can do it all on her own.  Forget about trying to dress that kid, help her brush her teeth, or put on her bike helmet.  She refuses to use her high chair, or a bib.  And she'll throw a temper tanturm if some other kid decides to use the slide at the park.  I just have to wonder whats in store for us for the next 6 months as we pull up to her 2nd birthday and the promise of "terrible twos"!

In addition to the chorus of "on own" and "me do it" she does have a good party trick... she already knows how to sing along to several songs in tune!  (And not all of those are kids songs... as Mama likes to listen to Grooveshark).

Up Island

Here's a few pics of our camping trip last weekend.

Brad cycled up and back:

And the rest of us drove with Grammy.  On the way stopped for a visit to the Forest Discovery Centre.

Though we were camping at Rathtrevor beach, the weather wasn't that beachy.  But we still had a great time!  Nikolai made some rainbow loom bracelets (and if you don't know what it is... then you clearly don't have a kid at home!)
He also rented a bike for the bike park.
And we did enjoy the beach... just not for swimming!
